A family member confirmed that the elder statesman died late Friday night at a hospital in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), after a brief illness.

Until his death, Dantata was regarded as one of Nigeria’s most prominent businessmen, industrialists, and philanthropists, with a legacy that spanned decades of investment, charitable work, and contributions to economic development.

The funeral arrangements were yet to be announced by his family as at press time on Saturday.
