A source who disclosed this on condition of anonymity yesterday in Maiduguri said Rev. Afina, the project coordinator of a Christian non – governmental organisation was returning from Mubi alongside two members of staff of the NGO in a vehicle when the terrorists ambushed them on the Gwoza-Limankara Road, killing one of the staff and abducting the priest while some others escaped.

Nine other travelers in a vehicle that were ambushed alongside the vehicle of the priest were also abducted according to the source who said the escaped staff of the NGO  returned to Maiduguri to break the news of the abduction.

The source added that the terrorists contacted the family with a cellular phone and allowed the abducted priest to inform them that he was abducted, adding that the terrorists did not demand any ransom at the time of the contact.

A senior official of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Borno State confirmed the abduction of the priest and the killing of his staff.
