Boko Haram Abducts Students From Borno School

Hoodlums Suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists yesterday reportedly abducted an unspecified number of students from Mussa Primary and Junior Secondary School in Askira-Uba local government area of Borno State, sources in the area told our correspondent yesterday.

According to the sources, the terrorists attacked the school in Musa, a village close to Sambisa on motorcycles after troops left the community.

A social media post by one Solomon Mussa said school children were affected.

The deputy speaker of Borno State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdullahi Askira, who is from the area, confirmed the school invasion yesterday, saying details were sketchy at the time of reporting.

He said, “I can confirm to you that some suspected terrorists riding on motorcycles invaded primary and junior secondary schools in Mussa village this morning.

“Information at my disposal is that many of the students fled into the bush, but I don’t have details of those abducted yet.

“It is also disheartening that the incident took place barely a few minutes after troops on patrol left the community; this signifies that the insurgents or the attackers were spying on the movement of troops before they struck,” the deputy speaker said.

Neither the military nor the police issued any statement on the incident at press time.
