Borno Govt Closes Schools For Eid–el–Kabir Celebration

Borno State Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation has announced the temporary closure of all public and private schools across the state in observance of the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

In an official circular signed by the director of Schools Management, Dr. Abba Mala Galtimari,  yesterday, the ministry stated that schools will be closed from Thursday, June 5 to Monday, June 9, 2025, to allow students, teachers, and school staff to participate in the festivities.

The Eid-el-Kabir holiday, one of the most significant celebrations in the Islamic calendar, is scheduled for Friday, June 6, 2025.

The ministry emphasised that normal academic activities are expected to resume on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

The directive applies to all public and private schools, including post-primary institutions and tertiary institutions within the state.

It was also communicated to all relevant stakeholders including education boards, examination bodies, union leaders, and school proprietors.
