Borno Stands Still As Shehu’s Daughter Weds Emir Of Lafia’s Son

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday attended the wedding of daughter of the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi, to a Nasarawa prince alongside 80 traditional rulers from across the country.

Osinbajo  led the federal government’s delegation to the wedding which took place at the Shehu of Borno’s palace.

On arrival, Prof. Osinbajo was received by Borno State Governor Babagana  Zulum alongside Amb. Babagana Kingibe, National Security Adviser Maj. Gen Babagana Monguno (rtd), Secretary to the Government of the Federation Mr. Boss Mustapha, Chief of Staff to the President Prof. Ibrahim Gambari,  state governors, ministers, politicians, party leaders, security chiefs, elder statesmen, members of state and National Assembly among other dignitaries.

Borno princess, Barr. Aisha Yabawa Shehu Abubakar, was represented by Governor Zulum  while the governor of Nasarawa State, Dr . Abdullahi Sule, stood in for Prince Umar Faruq Sidi Bage.

Performing spiritual rites of the wedding, the Imam Idaini of Borno, Shetima Mamman Sale, was supported by chief Imam Laisu Ibrahim Ahmed.

N1 million was paid as bride price to validate the weeding which was witnessed by over 80 traditional rulers from Nigeria, Lake Chad basin region and Sudan among others.
