A Brazilian model and social media influencer, Bianca Dias, aged 27, has died just days after undergoing a cosmetic surgical procedure.
The tragic news of her sudden death on February 19 has jolted Brazil’s online community and brought back talks connected to risks associated with elective plastic surgery. The Brazilian influencer had almost 60,000 followers on Instagram.
It would seem that her last update on her social media account was on December 18, where she shared a selfie inside a car in São Paulo, Brazil.
Dias had built a growing online presence, sharing modelling, travel and lifestyle content with tens of thousands of followers, with her posts often showing themes of self-growth and confidence, which has made news of her death especially troubling for fans.
According to close friends of the influencer, she suffered a medical emergency while recovering from surgery.
One friend revealed that she developed breathing difficulties before experiencing seizures. She was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Another associate revealed that Dias had been recovering at a family beach house when her condition became progressively worse.
Tributes flooded social media, with friends saying she was supportive, uplifting and full of life.
Authorities have since confirmed that an inquiry has been opened to ascertain the exact cause of death and to assess whether there were any medical complications connected to the procedure.
