Chieftains and members of the Opposition Coalition’s embattled political party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), have taken to the streets on Wednesday morning in protest against the alleged partisanship of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The protest currently taking place in Abuja involved a procession to the INEC headquarters in the nation’s capital city.

Announcing the development via his verified social media handles, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar described the protest as ‘peaceful’ and aimed at ‘safeguarding our democracy and preventing the enthronement of a dictatorship.’

He wrote: “Myself and other leaders of the ADC are peacefully protesting against the partisanship of the electoral umpire. Our patriotic stance is aimed at safeguarding our democracy and preventing the enthronement of a dictatorship.”

Rauf Aregbesola; former SGF, Engr. Babachir Lawal; Senator Dino Melaye; immediate-past deputy governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, among many others.

Also, joining the procession was a popular activist and electoral reform campaigner, Peter Randy-Akaah, and a mammoth crowd of ADC members and supporters.
