A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Oyinkansola Badejo Okunsanya, has emerged as the new President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
With this victory, Okunsanya became the second female President of the association, after Priscilla Kuye.
According to the resuls on the live update on the NBA, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe came second with 7,934 votes and Aare Muyiwa Akinboro with 5,855 votes.
The result is expected to be officially announced at the Abuja National Secretariat of the NBA, Sunday, July 19.
Before the election, the president of the association and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Latest Fagbemi, SAN, have been at loggerheads over the conduct of the election.
While Fagbemi wanted the election postponed, Mazi Osigwe insisted that it must go on.
