Nigeria’s Super Eagles have secured their spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Round of 16 following a dramatic 3-2 win against Tunisia in a pulsating Group C encounter on Saturday night.

The hard-fought victory sees Nigeria top their group with six points, guaranteeing their progression to the knockout stages.

The Super Eagles ignited the scoreboard just before half-time, with Victor Osimhen heading home in the 44th minute. They continued their dominance after the break, as Wilfred Ndidi doubled their lead with another header in the 50th minute, followed by Ademola Lookman’s clinical finish in the 67th minute, making it 3-0.

However, Tunisia mounted a spirited comeback, with Montassar Talbi pulling one back in the 74th minute. The Eagles faced a tense finale when Ali Abdi converted a penalty in the 87th minute, setting up a nervy finish. Despite late pressure from Tunisia, including missed attempts from Ismaël Gharbi and Ferjani Sassi, Nigeria held firm to clinch the crucial three points.
