Brentford Confirm Henderson Departure As Chelsea Move Nears

Jordan Henderson has parted ways with Brentford FC by mutual consent, clearing the path for his anticipated transfer to Chelsea, the club confirmed Wednesday.

The 36-year-old midfielder, who joined Brentford on a two-year deal in July 2025, has terminated his contract after just one season with the West London club.

“Jordan Henderson has left Brentford after a mutual agreement was reached to terminate his contract,” the club announced on its official X account. “Jordan leaves with the best wishes and gratitude of everyone at Brentford. We wish you every success for the future, Hendo.”

Henderson, formerly of Liverpool and Ajax, acknowledged the club’s role in facilitating his Premier League return.

“Coming back to the Premier League was really important to me, and Brentford gave me that chance,” Henderson wrote on social media. “I hope I was able to play my part in helping the team through an important period for the club. We achieved a lot together last season.”

The England international praised Brentford’s culture, ownership, and supporters, adding: “Brentford is a special football club. It’s ambitious, progressive and full of good people… It’s been a privilege to be part of it.”

Chelsea, who have been tracking Henderson as a veteran addition to their midfield, are expected to finalize the move in the coming days. The former Champions League winner reunites with Enzo Maresca’s project at Stamford Bridge, where his experience is seen as a valuable asset for the club’s young squad.
