British Council has provided free training courses for English Language Teachers and Teacher Educators in the first quarter of 2026.
From January to the end of March 2026, the culture agency will provide free training for English Language teachers on the theme Managing the Lesson, while Teacher Educators will receive training on the theme Managing Teacher Learning.
Under the Managing the Lesson theme, English Language teachers will learn about ‘Organizing the classroom’, ‘Managing Learners and Resources’, and ‘Classroom Management for Primary’. Meantime, teacher educators will be provided access to several articles and publications focusing on ‘How to Transform Teacher Education with AI’, ‘Teacher Education and Practitioner Researcher – How Can One Support the Other?’, ‘Bridging the Gap Between Pre-Service Teacher Education and In-Service Teachers’ Experiences in Spain’, ‘Exploring Principles of Effective Continuing Professional Development for Teachers in Low-and Middle Income Countries’, ‘Teacher Development with a Focus on Self-Directed Learning’, and ‘Encouraging Inclusive Values When Training Teachers’.
Teachers and teacher educators will also have access to evergreen themes in education/learning, in addition to lesson plans on how to tackle/teach about special UN Day celebrations in the classroom.
Some of the evergreen education themes include: ‘English in the Multilingual Classroom’, ‘Digital Competences for Teaching English’, ‘How to Teach Writing’, ‘How to Teach Vocabulary’, ‘Teaching English to Refugees’; while UN Day special days celebration lesson plan for January, February and March, span World Braille Day (January 4), International Day of Education (January 24), Safer Internet Day (February 10), International Day of Women and Girls In Science (February 11), World Day of Social Justice (February 20), International Mother Language Day (February 21), World Wild Life Day (March 3), International Women’s Day (March 8), International Day of Happiness (March 20), International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (March 21), and International Day of Zero Waste (March 30).
Finally, teachers can also listen to free podcasts on ‘How To Teach Online Effectively’ and ‘How To Teach Effectively in Challenging Contexts’.
Interested participants can visit the British Council website to download the lesson plans and register for the courses by March 24.
