Brother Shot Sibling Dead While Testing Anti-gunshot Charm In Kwara

A middle-aged man, Abubakar Abubakar, has shot his 12-year-old brother, Yusuf Abubakar, to death while testing the potency of an anti-gunshot charm in Kaiama local government area of Kwara State.

The victim and his older brother that shot him were siblings born to one Abubakar Abubakar, an hunter in Dutse Gogo community, near Kaiama.

The spokesman of Kwara State Police Command, Okasanmi Ajayi, who confirmed the development on Monday, said the incident happened on Sunday, October 2, 2022.

He added: “At about 2200hrs, of 2/10/2022, a report was recieved at Kaiama police station about the killing of one Yusuf Abubakar ‘M’ aged 12 yrs, by his elder brother named Abubakar Abubakar both sons of one Abubakar Abubakar a hunter in Dutse Gogo town via Kaiama, during the process of testing the efficacy of newly procured gunshot protective charm.

“This incident happened after fortifying themselves with the protective charm. The elder son brought his father’s dane gun and shot his younger sibling, the charm failed and the 12year old Yusuf Abubakar died on the spot. The culprit escaped into the bushes immediately the act was committed.

Ajayi urged parents and guardians to monitor the activities of their children and wards and avoid doing certain unsavoury activities in the presence of their children and wards to prevent incident of this nature.
