Senator representing Bauchi South senatorial district, Shehu Buba Umar, has donated a total of N27.5 million to support infrastructure development at Markazu Ahlissunnah Wal-Jama’a Islamic School in Madugu village in Toro local government area of Bauchi State.
The announcement was made during yesterday’s school’s Qur’anic graduation ceremony. Thirty-two students graduated, nine of whom memorised the entire Holy Qur’an, while the remaining 23 completed recitation of the 60 Hizb.
Senator Buba pledged N25 million for the construction of a mosque and toilets for the school. In addition, he gave N2 million to the graduating students and N500,000 to a teacher who composed a song in his honour.
Speaking at the ceremony, the senator emphasised the importance of Qur’anic education, urging students to not only memorise but live by its teachings.
He congratulated the students, their families, and the teachers, acknowledging the school’s consistent academic and spiritual progress.
“I am proud to be part of this school. Every two years, we witness pupils graduating, having memorised the Holy Qur’an or mastered its recitation. It brings me great joy to support such achievements,” Buba said.
He prayed for divine blessings upon the teachers for their dedication to both education and humanity.
Bauchi State governor Bala Mohammed also pledged his support, committing over N30 million to the completion of additional classrooms and the construction of a perimeter wall around the school.
Represented by the state commissioner for Education, Dr. Lawan Mohammed Rimin Zayam, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to both formal and religious education in the state.
The district head of Toro, Alhaji Umar Adamu Toro, expressed gratitude to both Senator Buba and Governor Mohammed, praising their dedication to educational development in the region.
Also, Alhaji Abdulmuninu Mai Shanu Shafa (AYM Shafa) pledged to build one classroom block in the school.
The school’s director, Aminu Rabiu Abubakar, stated that it was established in 2008 to impart religious and moral education. He noted that this event marks the students’ 9th -10th graduation ceremony.
