Buhari, Biya Commission 1.5km Nigeria-Cameroon Bridge

President Muhammadu Buhari and his Cameroonian counterpart Paul Biya yesterday in Cross River State commissioned 1.5km Mfum Cameroon Bridge linking Cross River and the Republic of Cameroon.

Buhari who commissioned the multi-million naira project with Biya stated that it would facilitate economic activities between the two countries.

Represented by the minister of state for foreign affairs, Ambassador Zubairu Dada, the Nigerian leader stated that the bridge which is worth over $44 million has two lanes and is located on the Nigeria – Cameroon border at Mfum/Ekok.

The president also commissioned the joint border post located at Mfum border community, Tung LGA of Cross River State.

Biya, who was also represented at the ceremony by the minister of public works Emmanuel Nganou Njoumessi commended stakeholders for the support in ensuring that the project which kick-started some decades ago has come to reality.

Buhari in his remarks stated that the project is a visible testament of the cooperation and good neighbourliness that exist between the two countries.

Buhari stressed that the project will enhance trade and strengthen relationship between the two nations for the development of the African continent.
