President Muhammadu Buhari has applauded the governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed over his investment in critical sectors in the state.
The president made the commendation yesterday at the palace of the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu.
He said the governor had invested in critical sectors of the state’s economy for the benefit of the people.
Buhari said, “Bauchi is my home because of the number of my supporters and well-wishers in the state. I want to assure that I will continue to do my best in serving my country. I can’t find my way without commending the Bauchi governor for investing in critical sectors.
“In 2003 and 2012, I visited all the 774 local government areas in this country, and in 2019 when I was contesting for the second term, I visited all the states. So, there, I made the promise and the pledge that I will serve Nigeria and Nigerians to the best of my ability,” the president said.
Governor Bala had earlier welcomed Buhari to Bauchi for the APC presidential campaign rally.
While receiving the president at Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, Bauchi, the governor said party differences are normal in politics hence the need for him to welcome the Nigerian leader.
Bala said for the first time in the history of Bauchi State, the political space had been opened to all the parties to conduct their rallies without interference or intimidation from the ruling party.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has told me that he is coming to Bauchi and it is my duty to come and receive him on behalf of the government and people of Bauchi State. With this, the president has shown that politics is different from governance.
“I am honoured that Mr President has commended me for what I am doing in Bauchi. All the governors of APC and its gladiators are my friends, so party differences are normal in politics,” he said.
The governor appreciated Buhari for assisting the state to execute some developmental projects, especially in water, education and health sectors, describing them as legacy projects.
