Immediate past president Muhammadu Buhari was well received in Daura town of Katsina State after he handed over governance to Ahmad Bola Tinubu in Abuja.
He arrived in Daura, his home town in a helicopter at about 1:10 pm with his wife Aisha Buhari, son Yusuf Buhari and daughters, Hanan Buhari and Halima Buhari. Also with him was his nephew, Musa Haro and Hadi Sirika, the immediate past aviation minister as well as minister of communication, Prof Isah Pantami.
Residents of Daura came out in large numbers to receive him from the helipad ground, trekking through the city centre before retiring to his home at Government Reserved Area (GRA) in Daura.
The people sang songs of solidarity (Baba Oyoyo) to welcome him home after eight years of service to the nation.
Buhari who earlier arrived at Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport, Katsina, aboard Air Force One, the president’s official aircraft was received by Governor Umar Dikko Radda and other top government officials.
The former president and his family were later led to a waiting helicopter by Radda and heads of security agencies in Katsina from where they were taken to Daura.
Buhari was first elected in 2015 and re-elected in 2019, and handed over to Bola Tinubu on Monday morning in Abuja to retire to his home state, Katsina.
