Foundation for Environmental, Rights Advocacy and Development (FENRAD) has said President Muhammadu Buhari has failed on his campaign promise of ending insecurity in the country.

The foundation stated this in a statement issued in Umuahia, the Abia State capital yesterday while reacting to last Sunday’s attack by gunmen at St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State.

The statement signed by the  executive director, Comrade Nelson Nwafor and head, Corporate Accountability and Human Rights Enforcement, Barr. Akande Femisi was sighted by LEADERSHIP Weekend.

“We wish to tell President Buhari in certain terms that he is a failure when it comes to security, an item which formed the plank of his campaign agenda in 2014,” according to the statement.

It said the security landscape of the nation prior to his era was dominated by Boko Haram, kidnapping, militancy, and heist among others, but under his watch most terror groups have split further into subgroups and cells.

“Most of these groups, FENRAD firmly believes, would not have reached their unheard-of scale as of yet had the president and his handlers devised a better approach in asymmetric conflict management.”

The statement, which noted that the foundation does not believe Buhari is on top of the situation, commiserated with the bereaved families, the church, and the state government over the tragedy.
