President Muhammadu Buhari has sympathised with former governor of Abia State and Senate chief whip, Orji Uzor Kalu, over the death of his wife, Ifeoma Ada Kalu, 61.
The president in a statement by his media aide, Femi Adesina, commiserated with Kalu and Ifeoma’s family, friends and associates and urged them to trust in God for comfort and care during the very difficult period of pain and deep reflection.
Buhari believes the testimonies of the late wife’s fear of God and charity should provide strength for the family, knowing that she lived well, and served the Almighty God.
The president prayed for the repose of her soul, and fortitude for the family to bear the loss.
Also, the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has condoled with Kalu over the passage of his first wife.
Tinubu said that the death of a loved one, like a wife, is painful and saddening, just as he urged the former governor to accept the loss as the will of God.
“Please be consoled by the memories of the good time you both shared and the fact that the late Mrs. Ifeoma Kalu lived most of her life in the service of God and humanity,” Tinubu said in a statement issued by his media aide, Tunde Rahman.
Tinubu prayed that God Almighty console Senator Kalu, the children and all those left behind by the deceased and grant her soul eternal rest.
Senator Kalu had earlier on Monday, in a post on his official social media page signed by him, announced the passing of Kalu.
Similarly, Senate President Ahmad Lawan said he was shocked and saddened by the news of the death of Ifeoma.
Lawan described the death as untimely and tragic and prayed the Almighty God to comfort the senator and his entire family.
A statement issued by his aide, Ola Awoniyi, said, “I condole with Senator Orji Uzor Kalu over the tragic and untimely death of his wife.
“The death of a darling wife is traumatic and harrowing but we must accept the will of the Almighty,” he said
Relatedly, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commiserated with the Kalu over the sad incident.
Ifeoma, who died in the United States, is survived by her husband and four children.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed his sadness over the death of the Mrs. Ifeoma Kalu in his condolence message on Monday by his chief press secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile.
He sympathised with Kalu, his family and the entire people of Abia State.
The governor described the death as shocking and a great loss to Kalu and urged him, members of the immediate and extended families, the deceased friends and associates to take the demise of Ifeoma in good faith, praying that God will comfort them.
