Former President Muhammadu Buhari has said that adequately understanding Nigeria’s complexities only comes when one can govern the country.

Buhari stated this in Daura when members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Katsina State chapter, paid him a courtesy visit yesterday.

Buhari reiterated that Nigeria appears challenging to govern initially but becomes easier with experience.

Reflecting on his tenure, he emphasised that security and economic stability were his administration’s top priorities, which, according to him, are evident in the current state of the nation and Katsina State in particular.

He highlighted the significant achievements of his government, noting that his leadership left a lasting impact.

Recalling personal experiences, Buhari spoke about enduring long treks on foot and surviving multiple explosive attacks in Enugu, all in his commitment to Nigeria’s peace and unity.

He expressed satisfaction with his post-presidency life, stating that he now feels more refreshed than many of his contemporaries after years of intense leadership responsibilities.

Earlier, the Correspondents’ Chapel chairman, Yusuf Jargaba, stated that the visit to Daura was part of a familiarisation effort after years of separation due to national assignments.

Buhari thanked the journalists for their visit and encouraged them to continue their role in nation-building through fair and objective reporting.
