Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, has promised to create a conducive environment for a result-oriented partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP).
He gave the assurance yesterday when the programme director, Mr. David Stevenson, and the director of Mastercard Foundation, Rosy Fynn, pvisited him at the Government House in Damaturu.
Governor Buni commended the organisations for supporting the state in its recovery programme.
“I wish to solicit more partnerships to support our efforts in our recovery programme”, Buni said.
The WFP director, Mr. David Stevenson, congratulated the state government for successfully transitioning from humanitarian services to durable solutions for internally displaced persons.
“I appreciate your wisdom, partnership and progress in finding durable solutions in resettling displaced persons in the state.
“The engagement of the youth and women in farming provides the durable solutions towards sustainable means of livelihood”, David said.
He expressed the programme’s readiness to continue partnering with the state government to unlock agricultural opportunities in the state.
Similarly, the Director of the Mastercard Foundation, Rosy Fynn, expressed the foundation’s commitment to engaging youths, especially women from the state, to benefit from the foundation’s intervention in Nigeria.
She said the foundation is working on 30 million job opportunities for youth with an emphasis on women beneficiaries.
