Yobe State governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has charged the newly appointed chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Babayo Umar to advance quality teaching and learning in schools.
The governor gave the charge at the swearing-in of the new chairman, which was held at the Government House in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State.
He emphasised the state government’s efforts to advance education and highlighted that his appointment is expected to move the basic education sector forward.
According to him, “As Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), you should key into the government efforts to advance basic education through ensuring qualitative teaching and learning, provision of instructional materials and conducive environment.”
He added that ” you should ensure effective monitoring and supervision in the schools and the execution of all projects awarded by the board.”
In his response, the new board chairman, Hon Babayo Umar, thanked the governor for appointing him and promised to work tirelessly with the state government to promote education in the state. He called on the people of the state to support the state governor.
