Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has commissioned a solar PV plant for the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital (YSUTH) Damaturu.
The project was undertaken by the Federal Ministry of Power to complement the state government’s effort in providing uninterrupted power supply through renewable energy for high quality service in the hospital.
The governor was represented by his deputy Hon Idi Barde Gubana, and informed the gathering that the plant would improve and boost services in the maternal and health complex and the new isolation centre.
He said that, the availability of such facility would go a long way in enhancing the quality of service of the state teaching hospital through provision of uninterrupted power supply to the hospital. He added that it would further reduce the cost of running the hospital in terms of procurement of diesel and payments of electricity bills.
“Under the leadership of our digital governor, a gigantic hospital has been transformed into a modern state of the art hospital, fully equipped with the best facilities you can ever think of. Today our hospital is one of the best in the country, patients from other states and even beyond our country do come here to seek qualitative medical services,” he said.
He further noted that Yobe State University Teaching Hospital is a tertiary referral hospital and training institution for health personnel. At its maternal, new born and child health care (MNCHC) complex the teaching hospital has 7 blocks comprising of Gynaecology Clinic, Gynaecology Ward, Obstetrics Unit, Paediatric Ward, and Special Care Baby Unit. It is also equipped with Laparoscopy, 3D Ultrasound Machine, 182 slide CT Scan Machine and Electronic Medical Records System, among others.
In his remarks, the minister of power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, represented by the permanent secretary in the ministry, Alh Mamuda Mamman, said the renewable hope agenda is focused on creating sustainable, equitable and inclusive development.
