Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni and the Emir of Bade, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman, have expressed sadness over the recent boat mishaps in Jumbam community of Tarmuwa local government area of the state.
Two boats loaded with passengers to the Babangida weekly market capsized and only two bodies were recovered.
Governor Buni who directed an intensive search with the hope to rescue the victims or their bodies, described the accident as devastating and prayed for rescue of the victims.
He advised travelers on roads and rivers as well as residents along water banks to always be cautious and for their protection.
“The heavy rains and floods usually come from far and unannounced, we should always be on the watch out and avoid dangerous ways,” he said.
Emir of Bade, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman, said; “Particularly saddening is the revelation that the flood claimed precious lives. Please accept my sympathy and condolences over this sad and unfortunate incident and the lives lost. I note with sadness that the heavy rain caused massive flooding in many communities across the 17 local government areas of the state.
“We stand with you and the good people of Yobe State. May Almighty Allah comfort the families of those who lost their lives.”
