He added that, “We note with sadness that in the course of these patriotic duties, many of our soldiers lost their lives, while several others were maimed for life in defence of the sovereignty, peace and unity of our dear nation.
They paid the supreme price for the country and humanity to enjoy peace, security and liberty.
He described that the gallant Nigerian soldiers have brilliantly and gallantly made Nigeria proud in the comity of nations, particularly in the United Nations, ECOWAS, and other regional and international organisations.
The Governor called on individuals, groups and corporate organisations to contribute generously to support the families of the fallen heroes.
In another development, Governor Buni received newly passed out Yobe state origin recruits of the Nigerian Air Force.
The Governor charged the soldiers to be good ambassadors of the state.
“You should submit yourselves to the laws of your profession and be good ambassadors of the state”, the Gov. said.
The recruits praised the state government for providing them with a solid educational foundation that contributed to their success.
They assured the Governor that they would continue to fly the state’s flag and remain worthy ambassadors of Yobe State.
