Buni Signs Yobe’s 2024 Budget Into Law

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has signed into law the 2024 Finance and Appropriation Bills passed by the Yobe State House of Assembly.

Governor Buni who started this at the WAWA Hall, thanked the Yobe State House of Assembly for their “meticulous scrutiny, objective assessment and speedy passage” of the budget.

 

Governor Buni said the 2024 budget which was tagged: “The Budget of Consolidation and Economic Recovery” will focus on the completion of ongoing capital projects across the state.

The 2024 budget as submitted by the governor to the State House of Assembly has a total sum of N217,000,000,000 to service both capital and recurrent expenditures.

 

The governor revealed, however, that in line with the oversight function, the State House of Assembly had made some adjustments thereby making “it more realistic, bringing the budget to a total sum of N216,950,000,000.”

 

According to him, the net allocation for capital projects, the governor said, stands at N122,794,000,000.00 while N94,156,000,000 stands as the net allocation for recurrent expenditure.

 

Buni noted that the prompt passage of the 2024 budget by the state assembly indicates the cordial working relationship between the two arms of government in the state, assuring that the relationship will continue for the betterment of the people of the state.

 

The state will complete all the ongoing projects such as Potiskum and Geidam Modern Markets, Potiskum Trailer Park and the Damaturu Shopping Mall as well as upgrading and recapitalisation of government-owned companies among others.

 

“The completion of the Sesame Seeds Processing and Packaging Hubs in Damaturu, Potiskum, Machina and Nguru towns which is very key to our administration towards providing employment opportunities and local revenue drive.

 

He said the state government will also initiate new projects to create more job opportunities to promote self-reliance among youths.

 

He appealed to all public office holders, civil servants, and contractors to continue to uphold values of transparency, accountability, due process and financial discipline in the Implementation of the 2024 budget for the benefit of our people.
