The Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has introduced far-reaching reforms in the state-owned broadcast media through sustained support and interventions, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Hon. Abdullahi Bego, has said.

Bego who was speaking at the 30th anniversary celebration of Yobe State Television (YTV) Damaturu said Governor Buni’s administration had demonstrated strong commitment to strengthening public communication by improving the welfare and capacity of media workers in the state.

The commissioner stated that the governor has in his first tenure, approved the absorption of 41 casual staff into the mainstream service of Yobe State Radio (YBC) and the State Television (YTV) to enhance efficiency and operations.

He added that Buni had also granted approval for the absorption of an additional casual staff into other state media agencies numbering up to over 30 to further boost manpower and service delivery.

“His Excellency has prioritized the development of the media sector in Yobe State. By absorbing these staff and providing continuous support, he has given the broadcast media stronger capacity to serve the people better,” the Commissioner said.
