The Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, on Thursday unveiled 500 copies of the Compiled and Revised Laws of Yobe State recently adopted by the State House of Assembly.
The unveiling took place during the presentation of the 2026 Appropriation Bill before the legislators in Damaturu.
The Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chiroma Buba Mashio has while speaking before the unveiling said the effort marked a major milestone in the state’s legal and institutional development, reflecting the house’s commitment to strengthening the rule of law, promoting accountability, and deepening good governance.
Hon Mashio explained that the revised laws were the outcome of an extensive review and harmonization process aimed at updating existing legislations and aligning them with modern governance realities adding that the review was undertaken to remove obsolete provisions, address inconsistencies, and provide clarity that would enhance justice administration in the state.
He added that the reform was part of broader institutional strengthening measures designed to improve policy implementation, judicial interpretation, and administrative efficiency.
“A modern and coherent legal framework remains fundamental to achieving sustainable development and effective service delivery.”
The Speaker used the forum and commended the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, staff of the Ministry of Justice as well as Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP) among many other stakeholders for their support towards the success of the Compilation of the Revised Laws.
He used the forum and directed the Clerk to liaise with the Ministry of Justice for the effective distribution of the copies to the Judiciary, as well as to relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) across the state.
Mashio, emphasized that the revised laws would serve as an essential reference for all government institutions, ensuring consistency, transparency, and accountability in decision-making and governance.
He also reaffirmed the legislature’s readiness to support initiatives that strengthen the rule of law and institutional capacity in Yobe State.
Governor Buni was accompanied for the unveiling by the Speaker, Rt. Hon Chiroma Buba Mashio, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Matter, Alh. Ibrahim Masari and the Yobe State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Bar. Sale Samanja.
