Buni said the people widely accepted his emergence as the Emir, indicating a widespread endorsement.
He congratulated the emir today when he received the people of Gudi Emirate during a thank you visit to the Governor at the Government House, Damaturu.

He said, “You have to be a successful politician and now, a traditional ruler. No one can tell you the importance of tolerance and accommodation because you are an expert with wide experience,” said Buni.

The Governor prayed for the new Emir’s peaceful tenure: “I pray that your tenure would unite the people of your Emirate in peace and prosperity.”

He also prayed for the repose of the late Emir’s soul, “May Allah forgive his shortcomings and admit him into aljannah Firdaus”, Buni prayed.

The Governor charged the traditional institutions in the state to step up the fight against drug abuse in their domains.

He added, “As traditional rulers and custodians of tradition and culture, you have significant roles to play in the moral upbringing of youths in your domains.

“The consumption of illicit drugs is fast becoming a huge menace and threat in Northern Nigeria. Traditional institutions must come together to fight the menace,” Governor Buni said.

“While political leaders are elected with a specified tenure, the traditional rulers are life leaders whose tenure usually expires only when they die, we must come together to defeat this threat collectively”

Buni described the traditional institution as a highly respected institution with a large followership, making it a strong advocate for the fight against drug abuse.
