The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (All Farmers Association of Nigeria) has conferred the Agricultural Empowerment Governor Award on Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni for the 2025/2026 farming season, in recognition of his administration’s sustained interventions in agriculture and rural livelihoods.
The award according to a statement by the Director-General, Press Affairs and Media to the Governor, Mamman Mohammed was presented to Buni following the state government’s wide-ranging agricultural empowerment programmes aimed at boosting food production, improving farmers’ incomes and strengthening value chains across the state.
According to AFAN, the recognition was based on the scale and impact of policies and projects implemented by the Buni administration, particularly in the areas of farm input support, mechanisation, livestock development and improved access to markets for local farmers.
A statement issued by the association noted that Yobe’s agricultural reforms have helped to revive farming activities in rural communities, enhanced productivity and contributed to food security despite prevailing economic and environmental challenges.
The statement added that the governor’s focus on inclusive agricultural growth has empowered thousands of smallholder farmers, reduced production costs and encouraged youth participation in farming through targeted support programmes.
AFAN further commended the state government for prioritising agriculture as a key driver of economic recovery and employment, stressing that the administration’s commitment aligns with national efforts to strengthen the sector.
The award was received on the governor’s behalf by Hon. Nuhu Baba Hassan, Deputy President of the association, for onward presentation to Governor Buni.
