Bureau Of Public Procurement Gets New Acting Director General

Barrister Olusegun Omotola, has assumed the role of acting director-general of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), succeeding Mamman Ahmadu, who was relieved of his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on June 15 2024.

Prior to this appointment, Omotola served as the director of legal services at the Bureau.
According to Janet McDickson, deputy director of Information and Public Relations/head of Media at BPP, Omotola took over as the most senior director in the Bureau.

Omotola, a native of Ijumu local government area in Kogi State, earned his Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B Hons) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria in 1991. Throughout his career at BPP, he has participated in numerous capacity-building courses and seminars, focusing on areas such as contract negotiations, drafting and management.
He has also received training in financial management for sustainable development in the public sector and the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP), among other areas.

Notably, Omotola represented the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget, and National Planning on the Ajaokuta Project Presidential Implementation Team’s Sub-Committee. This committee was established to verify the outstanding federal government liabilities generated by the Ajaokuta Steel Company and the National Iron Ore Mining Company in Itakpe, Kogi State, from July 2020 to August 2021.

The acting BPP director- general is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and serves on the governing council of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), representing the Federal Ministry of Finance.

He has held positions in various federal government parastatals before his current posting to the Bureau. Omotola is married with children.
