Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has revealed that football legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo do not top his list of all-time greats.
In a recent interview with ESPN, the Afrobeats star, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, said former Super Eagles captain Jay Jay Okocha remains his greatest footballer of all time, with Brazilian icon Pele also earning a place among his favourites.
When asked to name the greatest player in football history, Burna Boy dismissed the long-running Messi-versus-Ronaldo debate.
“I will say Jay Jay Okocha. It is between him and Pele. I am not doing that Ronaldo or Messi stuff,” he said.
The singer also shared his thoughts on the current generation of football stars, naming Spanish teenage sensation Lamine Yamal as the best young player in the world.
Although Burna Boy has often expressed his love for football, he also revealed his favourite Manchester United player, picking England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
