Nigerian musician Burna Boy has returned to the top of the Spotify streaming charts for African artists, overtaking South African singer Tyla.

The increase in Burna Boy’s streaming numbers is driven by the performance of “Dai Dai,” his collaboration with Colombian singer Shakira for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The track gained international attention following its performance during the tournament’s opening ceremony and has maintained strong positions on global music charts.

The song has achieved commercial success across Europe, reaching No. 1 in Spain, No. 2 in France, No. 3 in Italy, No. 4 in the United Kingdom, No. 5 in Switzerland, and No. 8 in Germany, supported by regular tournament broadcast exposure and radio airplay.

This milestone joins Burna Boy’s existing streaming catalog, which includes the track “Last Last,” currently approaching 600 million streams on the platform. The shift in chart positions comes ahead of the singer’s upcoming studio album and his “Unity Tour,” which is scheduled to begin later this year.

Within the African music category on Spotify, Burna Boy leads the rankings alongside Tems, who currently has 40.64 million monthly listeners, while Ayra Starr and Rema also remain among the continent’s most-streamed acts.

On the global chart, Spotify’s peak monthly listener records continue to be held by Bruno Mars with 133.6 million listeners, followed by Justin Bieber with 128.4 million, The Weeknd with 113.9 million, Rihanna with 110.3 million, and Michael Jackson with 109.6 million.
