A businesswoman, Hauwa Ishaku and a driver, Chucks Benson, have been docked in a Life Camp Chief Magistrates’ Court in Abuja for allegedly causing a road crash.
The police charged Ishaku, 38, of Gwarinpa Estate, Abuja, and Benson, 73, of Jardin Nigeria Limited, Maitama, with driving without care and causing an accident.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecution counsel, Mrs Charity Nwachukwu, told the court that on 10th June at about 8:41a.m, the defendants drove their vehicles on the Kubwa Expressway without due care during a gridlock, causing a minor accident.
She said during police investigation, the defendants could not give a satisfactory account of the incident.
Chief Magistrate Jobbo Musa admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N500,000 each with one surety each in like sum.
Jobbo ordered that the surety must reside within the court jurisdiction and provide a verifiable address to the court registrar.
He adjourned the case to August 3 for hearing. (NAN)
