All Progressives Congress (APC) has elected Hon Garba Umar Ubale Yauri as its candidate for the forthcoming by-elections for Ngaski/Shanga/Yauri federal constituency. He defeated his opponent with 140 votes.
Declaring the result shortly after the primary election held in Yauri town in Yauri local government area of Kebbi State, the returning officer, who is also the ex-deputy governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Abdulmalik Mahmud said Umar-Ubale Bullet scored 140 votes and defeated his opponent, Dr Abubakar Jibrin who got eight votes while two votes were invalid.
He said the electoral committee screened 50 delegates each from Yauri, Ngaski and Shanga local government areas totalling 150 delegates.
The returning officer declared, “I, Abdulmalik Mahmud, the returning officer for Ngaski/Shanga/Yauri federal constituency primary election, declare Garba Umar-Uba as the winner haven scored the highest number of votes and certified the requirements of the law.”
Mahmud appreciated the delegates for their orderliness and decorum before, during and after the primary election.
APC chairman in the state, Alhaji Muhammadu Kana, lauded Governor Nasir Idris for giving the party members free hand to choose their representative.
