Arewa Group Seeks Protection, Expresses Confidence In Defence Minister

A northern group, Arewa Trading Association (ATA), has urged the federal government to intervene by stopping the looting of its members’ goods in transit.

National president of ATA Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim Hassan said this during a meeting of the body’s leadership with the minister of defence, Dr. Muhammad Abubakar Badaru.

Hassan, who passed a confidence vote on the minister, however lamented that those who looted their goods did so under the impression that the goods belong to the government.

He lamented that the insecurity has caused a lot of setbacks for the association, adding that members’ have been killed and investments destroyed.

While urging the government to look into the situation, he assured that ATA will give the government all the necessary cooperation to achieve its goals.

Welcoming the visitors, the defence minister, assured that he will convey their demands to the president.

 

“I thank you on behalf of all members of the APC party, and I assure you that we will discuss all the demands you have expressed with the President and I will present them to him,” said the minister.
