Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie has been officially crowned the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year for 2025, securing a historic and remarkable three-peat of the prestigious award.

This latest triumph at Wednesday night’s ceremony marks her third consecutive win, following her victories in 2023 and 2024, solidifying her status not just as Africa’s premier shot-stopper, but as a modern great of the game. At just 24 years of age, Nnadozie has achieved a level of consistent excellence that is unparalleled in the history of African women’s football.

Nnadozie’s third continental crown arrives on the crest of a wave of global recognition, underscoring her transition from a continental superstar to a world-class talent.

The award comes just weeks after she was shortlisted for The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper Award 2025, finding herself in elite company alongside goalkeeping titans like Christiane Endler, Cata Coll, and Ann-Katrin Berger.

This nomination was no mere formality, but a deserved acknowledgement of a truly landmark year. Her journey began at Paris FC, where her heroics between the posts were instrumental in the club’s historic Coupe de France Féminine victory, their first major trophy in two decades.

That stellar form earned a high-profile move to English Women’s Super League side Brighton & Hove Albion, where she has continued to shine against some of the best attackers in the world.

However, her most iconic performances in 2024 came on the international stage. At the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Nnadozie delivered a masterclass in goalkeeping, producing one of the most commanding tournaments in WAFCON history.

She recorded an impressive four clean sheets in six matches and conceded only twice from open play—both goals occurring in Nigeria’s thrilling 3-2 final victory over Morocco.

Her unwavering composure and crucial saves were pivotal in the Super Falcons securing a record-extending 10th continental title, earning her the well-deserved honour of Goalkeeper of the Tournament.
