A Lawmaker in Lagos State House of Assembly Hon. Abiodun Tobun, representing Epe Constituency, has described calls by some politicians for an Interim Government following the process and outcome of February 25, 2023 Election as undemocratic and an invitation to anarchy.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with our correspondent, after receiving a certificate of return from Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, INEC in Lagos Abiodun noted that “the worst civilian government is better than the best military government”.

He stated further the presidential and governorship elections had been won, lost and won, adding that the best option left to the losers and winners is to seek redress in court and reconciliation respectively.

While acknowledging the fact that call for interim government is not constitutional, the Lawmaker averred that another option left to the losers is to re-strategize and vote out the President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next election in 2027 instead of constituting an interim government.

According to him, “The process and outcome of February 25, 2023 and March 11, 2023 elections shows that the people love the All Progressive Congress, APC and what the party is doing”.

Abiodun also enjoined the losers in the elections to join hands with the President-elect Bola Tinubu who is a progressive that has been working tirelessly for the progress of Lagos and the country at large.

He expressed optimism that the President-elect Bola Tinubu will address challenges of infrastructural deficit, electricity supply, attraction of foreign direct investment, unemployment, bad roads, insecurity amongst others when sworn into office.

On the issue of alleged voter intimidation, in Lagos State during the election, the lawmaker who said that there were pockets of cases, explained that such isolated cases cannot be used as yardstick for assessment of the election in the entire Lagos.

“If out of 3,112  polling units about 24 units recorded some cases which is less than two per cent can that be used as a yardstick to assess the entire election?” he asked.
