Canada salvaged a crucial point in their opening Group B fixture of the 2026 World Cup, battling back from a goal down to secure a 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A dramatic late equaliser from Cyle Larin sent the home crowd into raptures after what had been a frustrating encounter for the hosts.

Bosnia and Herzegovina took the lead in the 21st minute through J. Lukic, who capitalised on an assist from S. Kolašinac to put his side ahead.

Canada had initially started brightly, with A. Johnston testing the Bosnian defence in the 11th minute, but they struggled to break down a resolute opposition.

The second half saw Canada push for an equaliser, with substitutions like L. D. Fougerolles in the 53rd minute aiming to inject more attacking impetus. Their persistence finally paid off in the 78th minute when Cyle Larin, assisted by P. David, found the back of the net to level the scores.
