Cape Verde women’s national football team have withdrawn from their scheduled international friendlies against Nigeria’s Super Falcons.
The matches were due to take place on 15 and 18 April at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne. However, their cancellation has forced the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to scramble for a replacement opponent at short notice.
Despite the setback, the Super Falcons are still expected to assemble in Abuja this weekend as part of preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for July.
Under head coach Justine Madugu, the African champions last faced Cameroon women’s national football team during the previous international window. Nigeria lost the first encounter 1-0 but responded strongly with a 3-1 victory in the return fixture.
