The Bauchi State Head of Civil Service, Barr Muhammad Sani Umar, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to consider casual workers in the ongoing recruitment exercise into the State Civil Service.
Barr Umar made this known while responding to questions from journalists during a radio programme in Bauchi yesterday monitored by our correspondent where issues surrounding the recruitment process were discussed.
According to him, Governor Bala Mohammed has acknowledged the immense contributions of casual workers across various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to the development of the state.
He assured that the government would look inward to appreciate their sacrifices and years of service.
The Head of Civil Service expressed optimism that the governor would prioritise the absorption of qualified casual workers into the state civil service as permanent and pensionable staff.
He noted that many casual workers have served the state for several years under difficult conditions without being formally employed as full-time staff.
Umar also disclosed that people living with special needs would be given special consideration during the recruitment process.
He added that casual workers currently constitute about 80 percent of the workforce in the Bauchi State Civil Service.
Recall that recently, Governor Bala Mohammed had said that the state government would initially engage the services of 5,669 out of the 10,000 earlier promised with the rest to be employed in the next phase.
