A socio-political group, Movement for Reformed Nigeria (MRF) has called on the Department of State Security (DSS) to desist from harassing the Central Bank Governor, Dr Godwin Emefiele describing him as the helper of the less privileged, farmers and a human capital developer par excellence.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Alice Okwudili on Thursday in Abuja, the group which has members across the 774 local government council areas in Nigeria, stated that the CBN Governor is a social crusader who should be encouraged to continue the good work he has been doing for the Nigerian people and not to be intimidated by security agencies.
The Statement reads in part: “The national body and council of the Movement for Reformed Nigeria hereby wish to caution the Department of State Services to stay away from embarrassing and intimidating the man President Muhammadu Buhari has been using to wipe away tears from our eyes.
“With the rice out-grower programmer, COVID-19 Loan, the CBN Governor has reached out to all our members in all the local government areas of this country and has improved our economic situation. He should be allowed to continue the good work he has been doing for Nigerians.
” He is a human capital developer, a friend to all farmers and not a terrorist. The DSS should Concentrate on the evil people that are trying to destabilize Nigeria. They should focus in improving and he security challenges confronting the country and not chasing shadows or doing hatchet jobs for disgruntled rich few who are not comfortable with the rich policies and programmes of the Emefiele led CBN.
“If this threat and intimidation continues, we won’t hesitate to mobilise our member nationwide and stage a protest that will shake this country”.
