In a significant move to bolster the energy sector, the Director General of the Centre for Energy Investment and Innovation (CEII), Grema Sulaiman, has paid a visit to the former Military President of Nigeria and elder statesman, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), at his hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State.
The visit, described by Sulaiman as both fulfilling and productive, aimed to formally introduce CEII and seek the guidance and prayers of the respected leader.
He praised the former President, who is fondly called IBB, emphasising that his wealth of experience and wisdom were needed to navigate the challenges facing the Nigeria’s energy sector.
“To God be the glory, our meeting was very productive. He is a father to the nation and to the younger generations as myself, IBB is more than a father but a grandfather and mentor whose wisdom and experience are invaluable as we navigate the challenges and opportunities in the energy sector in championing the transition forward,” Sulaiman remarked.
General Babangida, known for his deep understanding of Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape, welcomed the CEII vision and expressed his support for its mission. He emphasised the importance of innovation and investment in the energy sector for Nigeria’s future growth and development.
In addition to his leadership at CEII, Sulaiman, who is set to attend the upcoming African Natural Resource and Energy Investment Summit (AFNIS) as a panelist at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa, Abuja, which is scheduled to hold from July 16 to 18, 2024, said he will be discussing financing the transition among other key participants while commending the organisers of the summit.
