Celine Dion Speaks Of Her Stiff Person Syndrome Diagnosis In New Documentary
Popular RnB, Ballad and pop artiste, Celine Dion is talking about her illness in a documentary entitled I Am: Celine Dion, since she was diagnosed of a Stiff Person Syndrome in 2022.

In a trailer of the documentary, released May 23, the singer breaks into tears whilst talking about the illness, and how it affects her daily living and her life’s passion music.

Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) is a rare and incurable autoimmune neurological disorder that typically causes muscle stiffness in a person’s torso. Over time, they can develop rigidity and spasms in their legs and other muscles, said Cleveland Clinic.

Dion 56, is seen in between physical therapy break into tears saying, “I’m working hard every day. But I have to admit, it’s been a struggle. I miss it so much. The people. I miss them. If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl. And I won’t stop.”

On whether she’d ever tour again, the singer bluntly stated her uncertainty about that. She had had to postpone the European leg of her 2022 World Tour following the diagnosis, and eventually cancelled the entire tour in May 2023.

Dion had responded at the time via Instagram, “I want you all to know I’m not giving up.” Last month, in an interview with Vogue she assured fans that whilst it is up to her body to decide whether or not she tours again, she will never give up on her passion and dream.

“As things stand, I can’t stand here and say to you, “Yes, in four months,” I don’t know … my body will tell me. On the other hand, I don’t just want to wait. It’s morally hard to live from day to day. It’s hard. I’m working very hard and tomorrow will be even harder. Tomorrow is another day. But there’s one thing that will never stop, and that’s the will. It’s the passion. It’s the dream. It’s the determination,” said Dion.
