Cemetery Guards Nab Man Trying To Steal Corpse

Guards at a cemetery in Koko Town under Koko/ Besse local government area of Kebbi State have apprehended 28-year-old Yahaya Mamu while trying to steal a corpse from the cemetery.

An official of the cemetery,  Mal. Abdullahi Idris Koko, said Mamu was caught while digging the grave in order to steal the corpse which was buried recently.

“The suspect came into the cemetery in the evening just like other visitors  coming to offer prayers for their loved ones, but, unfortunately, we saw him digging a new grave trying to steal the corpse inside and  we quickly rushed to the place and apprehended him,” Koko said.

He described the action as unfortunate and unusual, adding that attendants at the cemetery would intensify efforts at keeping the cemetery safe and tidy.

The man was  handed  over to the Koko Divisional Police office for prosecution.

Chairman of Koko Besse local government area, Hon. Aminu Garba Koko, also confirmed the incident to our correspondent noting that his council would follow the case to ensure that the culprit is prosecuted.
