Census: Gombe Inaugurates 15- Man Committee On Advocacy, Logistics

The Gombe State government has inaugurated a 15-Man committee headed by the State deputy governor, Manassah Daniel Jatau, to ensure a successful, hitch-free and acceptable census exercise.

The committee’s terms of reference include  to carry out wide public enlightenments and sensitization campaign on the 2023 National Population and Housing Census; devise and implement effective strategies to assist the NPC produce accurate and reliable Census data, and recommend reasonable and affordable logistics and security assistance to be extended to the commission.

It is also to supervise, monitor, guide and give directions to Local Governments Publicity and Logistics Committees, as well as to recommend/carry out any other activity that will assist the NPC in realizing it’s overaching  vision to produce accurate, reliable and acceptable data of the state.

In an address shortly before inaugurating the committee, the Deputy Governor explained that the essence of Census is to provide essential information about socio-economic variables of a population, urging the members of the Committee to live up to the expectations in discharging their responsibility.

“Our duty as members of this Committee is to enlighten, sensitize and get the buy in of residents in Gombe State to understand, cooperate, participate and assist in any possible way for the successful conduct of the Census in the month of May 2023”.        Membership of the committee include, Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General, Zubairu Muhammad Umar who is to serve as Deputy Chairman, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Muhammed Luggerewo, and Hon. Commissioners of Information, Hon. Meshach Audu Lauco, Finance, Hon. Muhammad Gambo Magaji, Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Dasuki Jalo, and Internal Security and Ethical Orientation, Hon.Adamu Dishi Kupto.

Other members are, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation, Prof. Namala Keftin Amuga, and Director- General, Civil Service Reforms Commission, Alh. Yusuf Dauda Kaltungo, Chairman, Board of Internal Revenue, Alh. Salisu Baba Alkali, and Dr. Maijama’a Usman as well as the Executive Secretary,  Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alh. Sa’adu Hassan , ALGON Chairman, Alh. Ali Usman, and State Director, National Population Commission, Gombe, Mr Jude Maigari, while the duo of Muhammad Usman Shanu, and Bala Sarki are to serve as Secretaries respectively.
