Sevilla will hope to end their barren run in Group B of the UEFA Champions League when they host Arsenal on Tuesday night.

The Spanish club, who parted ways with their coach, Jose Luis Mendilibar, before the international break, have collected two points from their opening two group games and head into this contest having picked up a draw against Real Madrid at the weekend.

The Gunners returned from the October international break laden with rust as they fell to a 2-0 deficit at Chelsea on Saturday. But, Mikel Arteta’s resilient outfit fought back in the latter stages of the contest to draw 2-2 as they preserved their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

Both sides are looking to bounce back to winning ways, especially after also dropping points in their last round of matches in the group.

However, Arsenal must improve swiftly if they’re to depart Seville with anything more than a point on Tuesday. After falling to defeat at Lens on Matchday 2, Arteta’s side cannot afford to lose a second straight match in what’s poised to be a tight Group B match.

Arsenal haven’t played a Spanish side since losing to Villarreal in the 2020/21 Europa League semis. Away to Spanish sides, they managed just three wins in 17.

In between their last three matches, the Gunners beat European champions Manchester City in a league game. This run of results points to an unstable side, but on paper, the Gunners are a strong side. They are capable of bagging three points away to Spain and they will definitely go for that.

The fact that they have failed to win two straight away matches will worry them though. Arsenal have conceded four goals in the two away matches, but their fighting spirit has had them scoring three.
