Sixty teams from 10 Nigerian universities have entered the 2025 edition of the CGMA Business Leader Challenge, organised by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
The annual regional business competition, now in its third edition, is designed to develop aspiring finance and business leaders by engaging them in real-world business scenarios.
According to a statement from the organisers, participants will present their solutions to a panel of Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMA designation holders) and seasoned professionals in accounting, finance, and business as the challenge offers young Nigerian talents an opportunity to enhance their business acumen, leadership, decision-making, and critical thinking skills, while showcasing their potential as future industry leaders.
Speaking on the initiative, Associate Director, Nigeria, at CIMA, Ijeoma Anadozie, said the institute remains committed to nurturing the next generation of business professionals.
“At CIMA, we are passionate about supporting the growth of future leaders in finance and business.
Hosting the third edition of the CGMA Business Leader Challenge in Nigeria is a proud moment for us, especially after the incredible response to last year’s competition, which brought together 57 ambitious teams,” Anadozie stated.
She expressed confidence that this year’s participants would demonstrate the same enthusiasm and innovation while gaining valuable experience in teamwork, communication, and leadership.
The competition has recorded steady growth since its inception, from 30 teams in the maiden edition to 60 in the 2025 contest. It will run through November, with the grand finale scheduled for December, where five teams will compete for the top prize.
