The new chairman of Umuahia Ecclesiastical Province of Eternal Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim, Snr Apostle Okechukwu Owoh has said the church’s doctrines are based on the Bible.
Owoh stated this yesterday while speaking with LEADERSHIP Sunday in Umuahia, following his appointment, saying those who hold contrary views are ignorant of the scriptures.
“Yes, we wear white garments, burn incense and candle during services, believe in using olive oil for anointing and holy water for healing. Don’t other churches do the same?” he asked.
He argued that some of those who castigate the church for the doctrines are not only practicing the same doctrines, but go as far as “selling their holy oil and water at very high prices.
“As you are aware, white symbolises purity and that is the whole essence of Christianity. Secondly, we wear white to indicate equality of all members before God.”
Speaking on the appointment, he said his vision is to ensure continued impartation of undiluted messages on the members and to embark on seamless evangelism for souls for God.
He paid glowing tributes to his predecessors, Apostle-General Emmanuel Agomuo and Snr Apostle Arum Okpe for their numerous selfless contributions to the spiritual development of the members.
“By the grace of God and with the support of the members, I will do my best to drive their achievements further and ensure that non-members understand the bases of our doctrines and beliefs,” he added.
On the political space, the provincial helmsman joined other religious leaders to congratulate the state governor, Dr Alex Otti for his victory at the Supreme Court penultimate Friday.
Describing the victory as an answer from God to fervent prayers and fasting by Christians across the state, he appealed to Otti’s opponents to sheath their swords and work with him for the good of the state.
His counterpart of Isialangwa Province, Special Senior Apostle Chukwudi Orji said with the cases settled, a new era had dawned on the state and congratulated the governor.
