Brotherhood of the Cross and Star leader, Olumba Olumba Obu, has emphasised the importance of prioritising dialogue over protest as a way of strengthening the bond of nationhood.
He made the remarks in Calabar yesterday on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of 8 Eton Day of the organisation.
He warned against exploiting the current mood in the country for selfish gains.
Representing Olumba Obu, BCS spokesman, Dr Amah Williams, warned that attempt to misconstrue the mood of the people during this trying period to plan for the balkanisation of the country would not yield any fruitful result.
Williams said the unity of the country was anchored on spiritual foundation, stressing that no single individual or group can afford to toy with that unity.
He stated that any individual or group thinking that they can hide under the current protest to devise selfish means of dividing the nation would fail woefully.
He stressed that Nigeria through divine intervention had crossed the Rubicon of division and urged the nation’s leaders to explore peaceful opportunities for mutual coexistence.
The organisation urged the nation’s leaders to utilise the abundant human and material resources God has endowed the nation with to overcome whatever challenges.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for bringing back the old national anthem, stressing that the composition and lyrics of the present anthem attracts aura of mental development that the ordinary eye may not see or appreciate.
