Northern Christian leaders have condemned the killing of innocent residents of Angwan Rukuba, Jos North local government area of Plateau State on Palm Sunday.
They blamed security lapses for the incident and demanded swift justice for the victims.
In a statement released yesterday by Archbishop John Praise Daniel, chairman of the Northern Christian Religious Leaders Assembly (NOCRELA), the group expressed “deep sorrow, outrage and heartfelt condemnation” over the tragic incident, which occurred on a day symbolising peace and humility.
“This barbaric act has desecrated a holy day and led to the loss of precious human lives. We call on security agencies to immediately investigate and bring perpetrators to justice.”Archbishop Daniel said,
The leaders warned that failure to act could deepen insecurity, saying, “The lives of Nigerians must be protected, and no community should live under the shadow of fear.”
The group urged Nigerians to reject violence and uphold peace, tolerance, and unity, stressing that human life must remain sacred and justice must prevail.
NOCRELA also calls for an emergency meeting to discuss the security situation and protection of Christian communities in Northern Nigeria.
